McDougall Energy Donates $10,000 to Christmas Cheer

McDougall Energy Inc. (“McDougall Energy”) hopes to brighten the holidays for local children, families, and individuals with a $10,000 donation to Christmas Cheer via the Sault Start Santa Fund. The donation will support Christmas Cheer as it provides gift baskets to recipients in need within our community.

Christmas Cheer has been operating in Sault Ste. Marie and area since the 1960s. The organization is supported by local volunteers, community stakeholders, and donors who graciously offer their time and resources to collect, organize, and distribute gift baskets to recipients in preparation for the holiday season. Monetary donations are managed by the Sault Star Santa Fund, which helps the organization purchase gift cards, food supplies, and other items for gift baskets.

This year, Christmas Cheer will support 1,983 households from Batchewana to Bruce Mines, which is an increase of 240 more applicants compared to 2021.

“The demand for support has increased year after year. The number of applicants continues to grow. We see the needs of so many people within our community, but also the unwavering generosity of individuals and businesses offering their support by donating to the Santa Fund or supplying toys, gift cards, and other items for our gift baskets. We have also experienced an overwhelming reception of visitors with our new storefront in the Station Mall. It has allowed us to be seen within the community, and these benefits have been reflected in direct donations to the cause,” says Diane Marshall, Christmas Cheer Co-Convenor.

Christmas Cheer is a staple benefactor for the community during the holiday season. They do incredible work, ensuring that many households are fed on Christmas and children have gifts to open on Christmas morning.

“McDougall Energy Inc. and Group of Companies is built on the support of communities we operate within, and we are committed to giving back to dedicated organizations that help make a difference every day,” says Darren McDougall, President of McDougall Energy Inc.

McDougall Energy is proud to support Christmas Cheer and help their team meet the needs of individuals within the community who could use the extra support this holiday season. Gift baskets will be distributed to recipients from 50 sub-depots located in Batchewana to Bruce Mines and St. Joseph Island on December 14. Donations will continue to be accepted until December 14 at the Station Mall (old IDA storefront) or via the Sault Star Santa Fund.
